The accident happened in the southbound lanes of Route 222 in Brecknock Township, between the Adamstown exit and the Pennsylvania Turnpike at approximately 4:25 a.m., according to dispatchers and fire officials. A tractor-trailer collided with a car, flipping onto the smaller vehicle, photos from the scene show and dispatchers confirmed.
Two people were transported to the hospital by ambulance, though their conditions remain unknown.
Route 222 Southbound was closed at the Adamstown exit, and officials have not yet estimated when it will reopen. Authorities urge drivers to avoid the area and expect delays through the morning commute as crews from Adamstown Fire Company and supporting units work to clear the scene.
